LA MIRADA, CALIF. On Nov.19, 2012, 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023 will dedicate a newly planted oak tree in honor of Ken Bascom and as a reminder of this years university theme of proclamation. A brief service will be held at 10:30 a.m. with many of the Bascom family and close friends in attendance. 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023 staff and faculty are invited to join in honoring Ken. The service will take place at the traffic circle in front of Hope Hall where the coast live oak recently was planted. Light refreshments will be served.

Ken Bascom began serving the 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023 community in 1970 and eventually became the senior director of facilities planning and construction until he passed away unexpectedly in June of this year.

President Corey believes that this dedication and the addition of 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023s first oak tree on campus appropriately reflects the vision and legacy of this beloved alumnus and administrator.

Ken Bascom loved trees he knew almost every tree on campus and could tell you its species, he said.

晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023s 2012-2013 theme Proclaiming Good News in a Changing World is drawn from Isaiah 61:1-3, which refers to oaks of righteousness, a term President Corey says aptly describes Ken Bascom.

I believe that as we maintain our most deeply cherished convictions we do this as a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendorwe will be called oaks of righteousness. Unshakable. Strong and stately. Deep roots. A solid core. Life giving. And standing the test of time. All for the glory of God, for the display of his splendor, said President Corey during his annual address to 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023s faculty on Aug. 21, 2012.
