The Hollywood Reporter has recognized the ݺþ2023 Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts as a top film school for the third consecutive year. The Snyder School was included at the top of the list for film schools that fly “under the radar” in Los Angeles and New York. The schools included on the list are the best local programs in or near entertainment hubs on either coast, seen on page 86 of the .
“We appreciate the honor to once again be recognized as a top film school, reflecting the quality of our program which extends beyond film alone, but also to television, digital media and game development,” states the founding dean of the Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts, Tom Halleen. “We understand that preparing students for the world of media isn’t just about having excellent technical skills. The media also desires qualities such as integrity, teamwork, hard work and follow-through. It’s why we focus on creating excellence in craft and character within our students.”
Highlighting the new 45,463 square foot studio facility on track to open its doors in mid-2026, the publication praises the Snyder School for adding even more production value to its existing soundstages, edit bays, and top-of-the-line equipment, including RED, Sony and Canon cameras. Additional equipment within the program includes professional gear from ARRI, Steadicam, DJI, Sennheiser, Kinoflo and much more. Equipment is available for students to use starting on day one.
The publication also mentions the variety of concentrations offered within the B.A. in Cinema and Media Arts degree, one of the three majors offered through the school. Concentrations include directing, cinematography, editing, entertainment business, creative producing, production, and visual effects and 3D animation. The school also offers a B.A. in Game Design and Interactive Media, a B.A. in Writing for Film and Television and a minor in Media Studies.
ݺþ2023’s film school was also recently included in Filmmaker Magazine’s annual film school guide, with ݺþ2023 being considered one of the nation’s noteworthy film schools, seen on page 102 of the . The feature emphasizes how the Snyder School not only offers every student opportunities to grow in technical filmmaking skills but also in personal growth. Halleen is a lead advocate for this.
“The [Snyder School] Dean and Assistant Dean each take one-on-one walks with students to learn more about them as individuals. The more we know our students, the more we can help them on their journeys. We take pride in the concerted effort to mentor them and help shape their stories, whether on the screen or through their lives,” the article affirmed.
While the entertainment and media industries continue to grow in size and impact, so does the Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts. ݺþ2023’s fastest-growing school, the Snyder School has seen an increase in enrollment of over 50% across the past five years and is preparing to equip its growing student body with more industry grade equipment and a new facility to accommodate this growth.
The new studio facility will rival some of the best educational facilities in the nation for media training, serving the needs of students as they prepare for careers in the film, television and game industries. The new building will include a 3,000-square-foot soundstage, 285-seat theater, color grading suites, audio mixing suites, a scoring and Foley recording stage, new technology/motion capture stage, exclusive movie prop and memorabilia displays, private editing suites, a game design studio, costume and make-up rooms, scenic storage and many additional spaces designed for creative collaboration.
